At FHS there is a strong focus on the areas of numeracy, literacy and inquiry.
All other curriculum areas are integrated into contextual units of student interest. We have a strong focus on learning through play in Years 0 to 2.
The middle years use a structured inquiry approach with the senior school using more guided inquiry. Our curriculum programme is centred on student agency, authentic learning and the development of the key competencies.
Students learn the skills of how to learn, thus becoming lifelong learners. Teachers teach students how to use higher order thinking skills, questioning, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Students are supported in identifying learning goals to achieve and learning reflective thinking skills to assess their own achievements and identify their next learning steps.
